Organizational Evolution

  1. 1895-1945: Established as the "Water Control Affairs Office" during the Japanese occupation, focused on local water management.
  2. August 1945: Following Taiwan's restoration, reestablished as the "Water Resource Bureau Hsinchu Engineering Office."
  3. March 1957: Renamed to "Second Engineering Section of the Taiwan Provincial Water Resource Bureau," managing major and minor rivers in Hsinchu and Miaoli.
  4. January 23, 1998: Reorganized into the "Taiwan Provincial Second River Bureau."
  5. July 1, 1999: Became the "Second River Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs."
  6. March 28, 2002: Renamed as the "Second River Office of the Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs."
  7. September 26, 2023: Renamed to the "Second River Branch of the Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs," its current designation.
